What this website is, and what it is not.
This website
These pages are published by Alexander A. Britton, trading as Bristol Bricklayer, Yate, Bristol.
What is on it
Descriptions of the work, and drawings of standard masonry practice — bonds, joint finishes, wall sections, block sizes and build-ups. They are drawn to the published dimensions and are there to explain the trade, not to serve as a specification for your building. Your own drawings, your building control officer and your warranty provider come first.
The calculator
The wall calculator uses the standard figures — 60 bricks or 10 blocks to the square metre, 75 mm per brick course — and adds the usual 5% for cuts and breakages. It is arithmetic to help you have a sensible conversation. It is not a quotation, and it does not take openings off.
Prices
No price on this website is a quotation. Work is quoted after the job has been seen or described, and the quotation is the only figure that binds anyone.
Photographs
Some photographs on this website are stock images used to illustrate the kinds of work described, and are replaced with photographs of real jobs as they are taken. They are not presented as a portfolio.
